Massage
What is Massage?
It is a relaxing treatment which moves the soft tissue of the body. It promotes suppleness, improves circulation and reduces stress. It is often referred to as “holistic” or “Swedish” massage they are the same. Holistic just means “whole body”. Massage is non threatening, non invasive and a natural therapy. Massage is excellent for treating stress and its related problems.
What happens during a session of Massage?
The client will undress to their underwear and lie on the couch face down to start - the therapist will be out of the room. Towels will be placed over the body and only the part being worked on is on show. Oil is then applied which helps the flow of the movements. The movements are rhythmical and relaxing. The session can last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Sessions can be longer if requested.
What can Massage do for me?
It is beneficial in two ways - physical and psychological. The massage relaxes the muscles it is working over, and also stimulates nerves which affects the whole body - if you feel good and feel relaxed your psychological body will be affected and vice versa.

How often do I need to go for Massage?
A one off session would be fine but it would be more productive to receive more regular massages. Initially perhaps four treatments (one weekly) and then have one each month, to promote well being throughout the body. If you are receiving regular treatments you will find that although you have had to deal with a stressful day/week your body does not respond as it used to and it is more able to stay relaxed enabling the systems of the body to work more efficiently.
Do I need to be ill to receive Massage?
No. Massage is an excellent preventative to the stresses and tension of daily life. Treatments are relaxing and enjoyable and are great for everyone. It would be hard to find anyone these days that did not suffer from stress in one form or another.
