Reflexology
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapy that treats the feet to balance the whole body. It activates its own healing powers, by using massage and applying pressure to parts of the feet known as reflex areas, corresponding areas of the body will feel the benefit. The feet are a map of our body so any body system can be accessed and stimulated by massaging the corresponding part of the foot.
What happens during a session of reflexology?
The client remains clothed except for the lower leg and feet. The treatment starts with a warming foot bath, followed by a foot and leg massage and then the feet are then what we called walked. The treatment is not usually painful but areas of imbalance can be uncomfortable or give off a bee sting like feel.
What can reflexology do for me?
The benefits are relieves stress and tension (75% of disease is estimated to be stress related), improves circulation, which helps oxygen to get to vital organs, releases trapped nervous energy, improves waste removal, and activates the body’s self healing. Reflexology is not a cure but is a helping hand and can help with many problems. It can leave you feeling energised and most clients say it leaves their feet feeling alive and light.

How often do I need to have reflexology?
It is recommended that you perhaps receive 4/6 sessions (one a week) to start with and then review. It is good to continue to have a treatment once a month to keep your body topped up and given the helping hand it needs.
